Is the Gold Coast the home of glamour photography? It should be!
Glamour photography has gone a bit out of fashion recently, which is a shame because surely the Gold Coast with all its sunshine, bronzed bodies, and big smiles deserves a bit of glamour?
In this blog post, I'll try to answer a few common questions about glamour photography and show you a few images to inspire you!
First of all, what is glamour photography? And how is it different to boudoir photography?
Glamour photography focuses on the model's beauty and is unashamedly sexy and fun!
A typical glamour photography session will focus on the individual look and style of the subject, usually women (but don't let that stop you if you're not), using lighting and specific poses, as well as the make-up, hair and outfit.
What's the difference between glamour photography and boudoir photography?
There's no strict difference between glamour photography and boudoir photography, and different photographers will have different ideas about what constitutes one or other.
For a start, boudoir photography is ... in a boudoir, or at least a personal setting, while glamour photography tends to have a simple background so that the subject's beauty is the focus of image.
In boudoir photography, the mood of the shoot might be sensuous, alluring, flirtatious and maybe a little mysterious, while glamour photography is more of a statement - I am sexy!
One difference between boudoir photography and glamour photography is that a glamour photoshoot will often have a big burst of colour in the image while boudoir photography will tend to be more low-key or even black and white.
Glamour photography should be sexy, fun and stand out!
Another difference is that in glamour photography, the model will often be looking straight at the camera, connecting with the viewer, while in a boudoir photograph, the subject may look away from or more obliquely towards the camera with flirtatious mystery.
But these are my opinions of the differences between glamour photography and boudoir photography.
In reality, one person's glamour will be another person's boudoir and there's a large degree of crossover between the two.
Indeed, the same photography session will often produce some images that are in a boudoir style and others that are more glamour photography.
Does glamour photography have to be nude?
No! Glamour photography tends to be a bit revealing but without being explicit, and your glamour photographs can be as revealing - or not - as you want them to be.
You'll see from the images on this page that most of the subjects are clothed - bikinis, swimsuits, stockings, anything that makes you feel glamorous!
Where is the best place for glamour photography?
Compared to boudoir photography, the set for glamour photography is often more simple and so the studio is ideal,
but there's no reason why we can't do a glamour photography session outside at the beach or in a sunny apartment. Whatever matches your style and shows your beauty!
Do I need perfect skin, hair, teeth, legs for glamour photography?
No, we're only human! The lighting and the poses for glamour photography sessions not only emphasise the subject's beauty but also hide any bits that you're less keen on so, no, perfection is not required.
Glamour photography tends to involve a bit more make-up and hair styling than boudoir photography, as well as a bit more 'optimisation' of the images with Photoshop, so you'll look perfect!
Do I need to know how to pose for glamour photography?
The pose is an important part of glamour photography, but the photographer will direct you and so you don't need to be an expert model and we'll make you look fabulous even if you've never been in front of a camera before.
