The GCPhoto Photography Studio in Tugun

GCPhoto has its own fully-equipped photography studio!

Much of the photography by GCPhoto takes place in our very own photography studio in Tugun at the southern end of the Gold Coast. Here, I'll give you a brief description of the studio and its facilities.

• The photography studio

The GCPhoto is a relatively small studio space rather than a large commercial studio. It is a versatile space and more than big enough for most types of photoshoot, and the studio is more cosy and comfortable for personal photoshoots than large warehouse studios.



The studio is equipped with a backdrop stand, and the backdrops can be swapped around for any colour you like, including green-screen. There are a large number of studio lights, both strobes (or flashes) and continuous lights, as well as numerous light modifiers such as softboxes, reflectors and snoots (don't worry if that means nothing to you, that's my job!). Oh, and cameras, there are lots of cameras too.

The photography studio also has an office area and editing suite where I do most of the work after the shoot.

• Groovy floorboards, funky corners and photogenic posts

Unlike large commercial photography spaces with huge cycloramas (the white walls that run into the floor), I deliberately designed the Tugun studio so that the backdrops could be removed to make a more intimate space for photoshoots.



The studio has attractive and photogenic floorboards that I'll often use in my photos, as well as some cornered walls and posts that can be used for posing and make great images. There's also a curtained window and a door, both of which I use for the natural daylight that they allow into the studio. The natural light is particularly suitable for beauty and boudoir photography, as well as portraits and headshots with a softer style.

• The comfortable bit

As well as the photography area, the GCPhoto photography studio also has a small comfortable area to rest during pauses in the photography (although it's been in plenty of photoshoots too!)



As well as being a place to relax between shots, or being in the shots, this area can be used to view the photoshoots. If you'd like to bring a friend, partner or stylist along to your photography session, they can observe from the side during the photography.

• The changing area

You'll also want somewhere to change and get ready, and so the GCPhoto photography studio has a bathroom and changing room.



The bathroom has large mirrors and make-up lights to help you look your best. There's also a shower if the shoot involves getting into a bit of a mess!

And, one last thing, a fridge and a kettle! There's an endless supply of tea and coffee available at the studio (personally, I always have a cup of tea on the go while I shoot).
